Pull the outside world in: why every team needs a 360-degree data view

In our blog posts, we often mention the importance of up-to-date information. Every team requires actionable, real-time data that reflects the current situation. But it’s not just the department’s status quo that matters. You should also provide relevant information about the organization as a whole and the world beyond it. So, you have to pull the outside world in and provide employees with a 360-degree data view.

Microcosm of sorts

Consider one team a microcosm of sorts. If you provide all team members with accurate data that’s relevant to them, they can make informed decisions that improve employee and customer satisfaction.

The question is, what data is relevant to them? The first things that come to mind are topics directly related to their jobs. For example, a contact center team requires real-time queue information, so agents know when to speed things up or take a break.

But they should also know where the organization currently stands. What topics do customers currently inquire about? What are your business objectives? Have you set any targets they can help achieve?

Of course, there’s also information outside your (virtual and physical) office walls that’s useful to employees. You probably monitor market developments and industry trends, but do you share this type of data with contact center agents?

If you include these three elements in your information sharing strategy, you’ll create a topical 360-degree data view for employees who need to make well-considered choices — provided you select only relevant, actionable data!

‘360’ = happier employees and customers

A 360-degree approach is indispensable to your information sharing strategy. And we believe you should apply it to each individual team. Remember, different teams have different needs. If you tailor a team’s at-a-glance data overview to their specific situation, you’ll increase commitment. Ultimately, that leads to happier employees and customers.
